Julie Courtnage

Julie Courtnage has worked in the mining sector for 26 years as an environmental scientist and sustainable development practitioner. She was the manager of the Safety, Health and Environment Policy Unit and subsequently the Sustainable Development Operations Manager for Anglo American plc. She was the Chairman of the Sustainable Development Forum of the Institute of Directors Southern Africa for two years, with whom she was also a Council member. She served on two task teams of the King III Code for Corporate Governance revision process. Now an independent consultant, facilitator and coach, Julie lectures part-time for MBA and Masters programmes at two tertiary institutions on ethics, governance, sustainability and leadership. She has a number of publications relating to values-based decision making in business, sustainability and research ethics.
